As winter passed and the new year began, our work did not stop, it simply changed form. While we do not organize summer camps during the colder months, our team stayed active by continuing regular visits to local schools and after-school clubs.
Together with 3-4 international volunteers, we organized weekly activities for children, focusing on games, communication, and learning through play. These visits help us keep a strong and active connection with the children and the schools, so when summer comes, we can continue our work smoothly and with trust already built.
During this period, we also focused on preparation. We purchased new materials, games, and tools, and reviewed our existing equipment to make sure everything is ready for the next camp season. This helps us keep our activities fresh and engaging for the children.
One unexpected challenge this winter was that our large outdoor tent collapsed under the weight of heavy snow. This tent is an essential part of our summer camps, as it provides protection from both strong sun and rain during activities. With the help of a volunteer team visiting from New York, we worked together to fix the damage. We sourced new metal pipes, straightened the old ones, and successfully rebuilt the structure.
The tent is not in perfect condition anymore, as the cover was damaged and we were not able to fully repair it. However, it is stable and usable, and we expect it to serve us for at least one or two more camp seasons.
At the same time, we continued developing our summer camp programs. We expanded our list of games and activities, aiming to bring even more variety, creativity, and fun into this year’s camps. We are also in ongoing communication with partner schools to confirm camp dates and organize logistics in advance.
Behind the scenes, a lot of administrative and planning work is happening to make sure the quality of our camps keeps improving each year. From organizing schedules to improving activity structures, these months are an important foundation for the summer.
We are now slowly moving toward the new camp season, and we are excited to welcome many children again in the coming months.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us and for helping us create meaningful experiences for children in our community.
