Provide Summer Camps for 500 Youth in Transylvania

As the school year begins and winter settles in, we’ve had the chance to look back on an incredibly full and rewarding summer. After our previous update, our team continued the season with 7 additional one-week summer camps bringing us to a total of 18 camps this year. In these last weeks alone, we welcomed around 160 children, supported by 20 international volunteers and 11 dedicated local volunteers.

These final camps carried the same energy, curiosity, and joy we experienced all summer long. Many of the children who joined us had never participated in a camp before, and it was inspiring to see them grow more confident, more communicative, and more eager to learn each day. From outdoor games and garden- and nature-based activities to hands-on arts & crafts and English sessions through play, the children embraced every moment. Our volunteers worked tirelessly to create safe, engaging spaces where each child could learn, laugh, and feel valued.

Now that winter is here, our team is taking time to reflect on the experiences of the past months. We are reviewing the learning curves of the children, documenting progress, and writing up new games and improved activity plans based on what we learned this summer. This process helps us continuously strengthen our programs for the years ahead.

We are also beginning to use the donations collected through this project to support local schools, particularly by purchasing materials for English classes, creative activities, and essential administrative equipment. These resources will directly benefit the children we work with throughout the school year, helping teachers improve classroom engagement and ensuring that learning remains accessible and enjoyable.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to every donor and supporter who made this summer possible. Because of your kind contributions, hundreds of children in our area and nearby villages had the chance to learn, play, and build positive memories that will stay with them long into the future.

As summer arrived, so did the excitement and energy of our long-awaited camps! Since the school holidays began, our team has already organized 11 summer camps, each welcoming an average of 35-40 children. From lively games and creative arts & crafts to English lessons taught through play, every camp has been buzzing with laughter, learning, and plenty of memorable moments.

It’s been heartwarming to see how much the children are enjoying themselves - many have even been waking up early, eager not to miss a single activity. For some, this is their first experience in a camp environment, and they’ve been thrilled to make new friends, learn from international volunteers, and simply have a safe space to play freely.

Behind the scenes, our volunteers have been working tirelessly to make each camp special. From setting up outdoor sports, green activities and adventurous games to planning English learning sessions with native speakers, every detail is designed to create a week full of joy and discovery.

While we’re already halfway through the summer, there’s still more to come. With several camps left on our schedule, we’re on track to reach even more children this year in even further villages - bringing us closer to our goal of providing a positive, safe, and empowering experience to over 500 kids in Transylvania.
