Recently, our surgical team in Idlib treated a patient suffering from a large, deeply-seated thyroid mass—a condition medically known as a substernal (retrosternal) goiter. The gland had enlarged so dramatically that it was pressing on her airway and surrounding structures, causing:

• Severe shortness of breath

• Hoarseness of voice

• Difficulty swallowing

• Noticeable weight loss

• And a dangerous extension of the mass from the neck down into the upper chest

This was not a simple case.
It was a complex and high-risk condition that required advanced surgical skills, precise planning, and immediate intervention to prevent life-threatening complications.

Thanks to your support, our team was able to perform a complete thyroidectomy safely and successfully. The surgery relieved the pressure on her airway, restored her ability to breathe and swallow comfortably, and prevented the mass from causing permanent damage.

Today, the patient has been discharged in good health, able to speak and breathe without the fear and struggle that once defined her daily life.
