It brings us great joy to share you with the progress and successes of this project.
The educational center, supported by this project, continues to cater for both educational and cultural needs of youths aged 14 to 35 years from the nearby communities of Wellington. The center provides training for job skills in the following areas, computer literacy/operation, word processing, Gara Tie-Dying, Catering, Tailoring and hair dressing. It also provides an extensive interview training with participants, individually and in-group settings.
Highlights
This year a total number of students that were enrolled sum up to sixty-three. Below is the breakdown:
1. Male = 3
2. Female = 60
3. Staff = 10
i. Hair dressing = 21 students
ii. Tailoring = 25 student
iii. Catering = 5 students
iv. Gara tie dying = 12 students
Graduation
Going through the program successfully, 20 students would be graduating from the center this April. After which, they would be sent to different places of work for their job training. Arrangements have already been made and the relevant authorities intimated.
Successes
Six former trainees from the center have been hired on as paid staff in some established businesses. Another ten of them have opened their shops and run by them. Thanks for the tool kits they all received. Also two participants are now working at ARIK traveling and the Marine time agency have sent their letters of appreciation to the office for the impact the computer training had on them.
