Nor Luyce continues bringing changes in the lives of mentees and mentors. During these several months, we have realized 503 individual meetings and 4 group meetings that allowed mentees to learn about their emotions, and fears and gained conflict management and problem-solving skills. As one of our mentees said: “Nor Luyce has given me so many great opportunities, but the one I will single out is self-knowledge. An understanding of who you are is the most important thing in your life, and my self-awareness has matured so much thanks to Nor Luyce. Now I can recognize myself from many different points of view, both mentally and physically. I am aware of my emotional tendencies and fears and through this greater understanding I am able to manage these tendencies.”
Nor Luyce not only supports the mentees but also mentors. These several months the mentors had the opportunity to participate in 5 different workshops that armed them with new skill sets to work productively with their mentees. One of the mentors has expressed her thoughts about the work of Nor Luyce: “Nor Luyce Mentoring Center for Youth can be easily compared to a family. It is a place of mutual respect and assistance, where the thoughts, beliefs, and aspirations of mentors and mentees are nurtured. Young women learn how best to work with others while preserving their own integrity and independence. A mentee is given the opportunity to acquire new friends, develop skills and discover ideas for a future profession. The mentor is also given the opportunity to build a community of like-minded young women. Most importantly, it is a unique opportunity for professional growth. Thank you so much Nor Luyce.”
The rest of the mentees were also actively involved in various meetings that allowed them not only to put together their career plans but also to visit universities and colleges, learn about work ethics, leadership skills, and many more. They also had the chance to meet with a number of famous people who shared their own challenges and method of dealing with those challenges. They also motivated the girls to dream big and take steps to reach those dreams.
