Support students to Gain Access to Physiotherapy

By Paul Whitehouse | Program Manager

Dear Supporters,

Over the past year we’ve been supporting a school for students who have a range of movement and motor function difficulties, including cerebral palsy to gain regular access to physiotherapy sessions

Your support has enabled a physiotherapist to provide weekly sessions to students at the school as well as their families.

These sessions have helped the students to increase their motor function, manage pain, facilitate their movement and prevent future complications. This has been achieved by introducing a range of movement exercises, massage techniques and other physical therapies on a regular basis. Over the course of this year we’ve seen marked improvements in each student’s strength, flexibility, motor development and mobility.

The sessions have also had an educational component to them, which has been conducted by the physiotherapist. The aim of this educational component is to help support and inform the parents and carers of each student. This has been achieved by teaching them a range of simple techniques that they can try at home, so that support can be continued outside of the sessions, whilst also enabling them to be better informed on the student’s condition.

These physiotherapy sessions have not only impacted the students at our partner schools, but also their families too. With your continued support we can help more students and families have regular physiotherapy sessions, that they would otherwise not have access to.

Thank you for your continued support!

With Gratitude,

India Community
