India, with its breathtaking beauty, is a country that faces numerous challenges. The aftermath of COVID-19 has been particularly hard-hitting, with a slower recovery compared to other nations due to the late peaks of the pandemic and the country’s struggling healthcare system.
Despite these challenges, we are thrilled to share updates from our Women Empowerment Training Program. The lockdown brought our project to a halt, and engagement dropped as many women found themselves preoccupied with their families. However, we reopened our doors at the start of this year, marking a fresh beginning for us.
We currently have 10 women attending thrice-weekly sewing skills training sessions. After completing their six-month training, each woman will be paired with a business mentor and receive support to establish their own business. Thanks to your donations, we’ve secured a small grant for each graduate to purchase materials for their first products.
However, we’ve noticed a recent slowdown in donations. Your contributions are vital for us to continue this important work. We are actively fundraising to support the next group of 10 women who will join our program, provided we meet our fundraising goals.
