Earlier this month, fifteen donated emergency vehicles, including 10 ambulances and 5 fire engines, were delivered to Ukraine to support first responders, with the transport costs of the vehicles funded by Direct Relief.
The deliveries were made in coordination with the Ukrainian Consulate out of Chicago and the UA Resistance Foundation, also out of Chicago, and others that were able to create a reliable process for securing, shipping, and placing donated U.S. ambulances, fire engines, and supplies in the hands of those in need in Ukraine.
War in Ukraine has killed thousands and injured untold more, while millions of Ukrainians have been displaced.
Direct Relief, as a recognized international partner of Ukraine’s Ministry of Health, continues to support several groups in Ukraine and regionally with requested medical aid—including trauma kits, cancer drugs, insulin, antidotes used in chemical attacks, and more.
In addition to medical aid, Direct Relief has provided considerable financial assistance, including direct cash aid to support local healthcare organizations to help Ukrainian refugees obtain needed medications at no cost.
Since the war broke out in February 2022, Direct Relief has deployed more than 2,450 tons of medical aid, 272.4 million defined daily doses, $32.2 million in financial assistance, and $944.1 million in material aid assistance to Ukraine.
