Dear Donors,
We are grateful for your continued support of the Providing Hope Kits for 200 Blind Somali Children project. While full funding is still in progress, important groundwork is already underway at Albasar Boarding School to ensure smooth and effective implementation once sufficient resources are secured.
During this period, our team has completed key preparatory activities, including the verification of all 200 visually impaired children. This process involved documenting ages and clothing sizes to ensure that future distribution of Hope Kits—comprising warm clothing, sturdy shoes, hygiene supplies, and blankets—will be accurate, efficient, and appropriate for each child. In parallel, we have conducted supplier assessments within the local market and obtained preliminary price quotations to guide procurement planning and ensure cost-effectiveness. We are also working closely with the school administration and local partners to finalize logistics and coordinate a simple, nutritious holiday meal that will be prepared for the children once funding is available.
During a recent visit, we met Hawa, a 12-year-old girl without family support, who shared her hope for this project: “Last winter my feet were so cold I couldn’t walk to class. I’ve never had a holiday meal with sweets. If this happens, it would be the best day of my life.” Stories like hers continue to remind us of the importance of this project—not only in addressing physical needs but also in restoring dignity, comfort, and a sense of inclusion.
Although fundraising is still ongoing, these early steps have strengthened our readiness to act quickly once sufficient funds are raised. You, our donors, are the key to turning these plans into reality. Every contribution—whether it provides sturdy shoes for one child or a full Hope Kit for another—brings Hawa and her classmates closer to warmth, joy, and dignity this holiday season. Please consider sharing our project with your network or making an additional gift to help us reach these vulnerable children in time.
