This project will build a Library for 500 marginalized children and youth in Dili, Timor-Leste at the place where MAHON Training Center operates. This project is important for our people to access the learning opportunities where normally marginalized children and youth are difficult to have access opportunity to library and learning. Due to the education situation in Timor-Leste that is not stable, less quality of public schools and poor learning habbits and interest on prioritizing education.
The poor children and youth in Timor-Leste are normally can only go to study in public schools due to a free education where is very poor school facilities such as limited chairs and desks, no library, no water and sanitary facility, no internet, computer and also 75% of public school conditions are not access to electricity. Once poor children and youth graduated from public school then they cannot afford to continue study in higher level and becoming droop out & they must go to the non-formal.
More than 200 children and 300 marginalized youth coming to MAHON Training every week to learn English, Portuguese, Computer, ICT, Basic Finance, Sports and on-the-job training programs. MAHON has very limmited learning facilities to cover all these high number of learners to learn at once and limmited space to establish a learning center for them. This project will provide free access opportunities to learn different subjects at MAHON Training Center and provide sufficient space to accommodate.
We will provide the learning space and opportunities for more than 500 learners/year and allowing them to freely access the library, not only grasroots children and youth but for all people who would like to access to the library to improve their education background personal skills to apply for jobs.
