Every year more and more Romanians bring nearly 800 unwanted puppies into the shelter, instead of drowning or killing them as they did before. Even if a lot of these puppies do not survive the first days or die because of the vaccination there are still many puppies which survive the vaccination phase. For them good food is needed and new kennels and roofs have to be built. And every year we try to carry out a puppy rescue transport to give about 50 puppies a good future.
For almost 6 years now ProDogRomania e.V. has been supporting the public shelter Bucov in Ploiesti. During this time we have already achieved a lot. Recently we have noticed that not only stray dogs are caught by the dog catchers and brought into the shelter, but more and more Romanians bring unwanted puppies - sometimes with Mummy, very often without Mummy -, instead of drowning or killing them as they did before. Only in 2019 we had nearly about 800 puppies submitted to the shelter.
Building new kennels and roofs, fit up the kennels with enough dog houses, provide the puppies with good puppy food and as a last step for some of them to transport puppies to Germany to a fine home
Since we are very well aware that not all dogs will find a home in Germany, we increase our efforts to improve the life situation on site. It must remain our most important goal to create sustainable changes on the spot. Regular castration actions in different areas of the country are also financed by us and are supposed to enable change at another point.
