This project allows us to buy 7,000m of land in Nicaragua to build a plastic recycling factory, enabling us to recycle around 15% of the entire plastic bottle market within the next 10 years. By processing plastic ourselves, we can generate funds to make this project self-sustaining while supporting our existing charity work. Additionally, it will create new jobs for local families, making a lasting impact. This is a huge step toward tackling both poverty and plastic waste!
Nicaragua faces a severe plastic waste crisis. A CBC study found that 1,542,911,085 plastic bottles (482,159 tons) are consumed annually-225 per person-with numbers rising. Yet, only 30% are recycled, and the country lacks a Bottle-to-Bottle solution. Shockingly, 70% of plastic waste is dumped in nature or openly burned, polluting air, land, and waterways, harming both communities and ecosystems.
This land purchase will lay the foundation for Nicaragua's first Bottle-to-Bottle recycling factory, creating a local solution for plastic waste. The facility will process PET & other recycable materials for reuse, increasing recycling rates and reducing pollution. It will create jobs, lower dependence on exports, and support a circular economy.
This project will transform plastic waste management in Nicaragua by creating a sustainable recycling system. It will reduce pollution, improve public health, and create stable jobs. By closing the recycling loop, we will decrease dependence on imports and exports, fostering a circular economy. In 10 years, we aim to recycle 15% of the country's plastic bottles, setting a model for future waste solutions and driving long-term environmental and economic change.
