Our new project off to a good start

By Jasmine Taberer | Project Manager

We appreciate your support for our new education project. It's off to a great start!

We focus on SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 5: Gender Equality.

These SGD’s work towards ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education.  Educational experiences promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, and strive towards gender equality and empowerment for all women and girls.

We spend a total of 12 hours teaching a week in 4 locations across Nosy Be with students ranging from 7 to 50 years old.

Our English teaching programs focus on improving access to educational opportunities. Lessons focus on using interactive and engaging approaches. Your donations helps us to aquire learning materials to support these programs such as stationery, resource books and other education support materials.

We also support teacher training. We facilitate workshops that educate on educational approaches, skills and techniques. Teachers have been enthusiastic participants in these workshops and can take their learnings into the classroom.  This have a two fold impact, teachers have new skills and ideas for lesson delivery and students can benefit from new educational experiences.

The projects also work towards improving the opportunities, aspirations and autonomy of local women and girls while raising awareness on the importance of women’s empowerment. We have worked to build a curriculum of focus areas for the women in the region. This is based on needs  that women in the community have identified.  Workshops are well attended and the women have a range of ideas for further workshops.

Once again, we thank you for your donations. Funds will be spent on improving the infrastructure of the educational establishments where we teach as well as much needed learning resources such as books, paper, and writing materials.

We look forward to keeping you updated on the progress of this project.

Thanks for your support,

The Madagascar team
