During Ramadan, this plight is exacerbated for many families who do not have enough food to break their fast and are in urgent need of support. The fasting month of Ramadan is a time of sharing, reflection and solidarity. While many people are able to end their fast together with their families, families in Afghanistan are affected by extreme financial poverty and hunger. The heavy snowfall and deaths from the cold in recent weeks have exacerbated the situation and made it clear how essential support is for Afghan households suffering from extreme winter cold and a lack of supplies.
Our Ramadan Emergency Relief 2026 supports around 122 Afghan families in need in Balkh province. By distributing food packages, over 850 people can spend the holy month of Ramadan with dignity and the security of a daily meal. Each package consists of 50 kg flour, 28 kg rice, 10 kg beans, 1 kg tea, 2 packs of dates (for Ramadan celebrations), 7 kg sugar, 10 l oil, 3 kg pasta, 2 kg tomato paste and a warm blanket.
With our Ramadan Emergency Relief together with our long-term local partners, we have the opportunity to ensure the security of a daily meal for 122 Afghan families during the holy month of Ramadan.
