Building a ramp in rural schools is important, especially when it comes to ensuring that all students, including those with disabilities, have equal access to education and a safe learning environment. For these reasons DRJ received the request to built ramps in three schools in Khuroson district, in the southern part of Tajikistan. DRJ promotes inclusive education in Tajikistan and we want to see each child with special needs to be included into mainstream school. This opportunity gives children with disabilities to attend schools, interact with their peers, participate in educational process and be involved into other social events. Community members were directly involved in the building ramp process and contributed their time providing labor work and some construction materials. With the great effort on behalf of school administration, community activist and local authority support the ramps were built according to the standard requirements. Now, 11 children with disabilities and some teachers with mobility issues can enter the school building and learn to interact with other students, improving their social skills and expanding their knowledge in various areas. These schools can serve as an example for other. It can motivate other community members and local businesses to adopt similar practices and help children with disabilities fulfill their rights and study at the mainstream schools with other children.
