Many churches were destroyed during violent attacks carried out by extremist groups and armed militias across different parts of Nigeria. The attacks often stem from religious intolerance, land disputes, and weak protection for rural communities. These assaults leave worshipers without safe places for prayer, disrupt social ties, & cause deep emotional and spiritual pain that takes years to heal. This project will restore up to ten churches so congregations can come together again under a roof.
In parts of the Middle Belt and northern states, entire congregations now gather outdoors or in makeshift shelters. Fire and gun attacks have left only charred church walls and broken benches. The once lively places of worship where families sang together now stand as haunting reminders of loss, fear, and the deep scars left by senseless violence.
We will work with local church leaders and builders to rebuild ten damaged churches. The restoration will include new roofs, walls, windows, and doors, as well as essential furnishings for worship. Each congregation will be involved in the process to ensure the structures reflect their needs and help restore a sense of belonging, safety, and unity within their communities.
Once the churches are rebuilt, families will return to familiar spaces of worship. Children will attend Sunday school under proper roofs, and congregations will gather in safety and comfort. Beyond restoring buildings, the project will revive community spirit, rebuild trust among neighbours, and bring renewed hope to people who once felt forgotten amid conflict and loss.
