Dear Friends,
I am pleased to share with you an update about our most recent school projects in Nepal which wrapped up at the end of April.
As mentioned in our last update, we were incredibly fortunate to have local Nepali staff support our program which had been delayed due to COVID-19. At the end of April, the team completed two resilient school campuses, Thakureshwor and Janakalyan in the Marin municipality! This incredible group of individuals contributed a cumulative 3,404 days to get the job done. Thakureshwor and Janakalyan now have 19 safe classrooms, hygienic and gender-appropriate bathrooms, playgrounds, and water filtration systems, all of which will provide 700 students over the next 10 years with a safe and engaging place to learn and play.
As our longest-running program at just over 6 years, Nepal occupies a special place in the hearts of the All Hands and Hearts community. I am sad to say this report will serve as our last for this particular project page as conditions surrounding COVID-19 have led our team to postpone our return to Nepal until next year at the earliest. However, our work is not done yet! Our team is excited to explore new ways to support earthquake-affected communities in Nepal, including plans that are underway to build a health clinic once it is deemed safe for our volunteers and staff to return.
We are so grateful for the support that you have extended to the communities we've served in Nepal over the past 6 years. Thank you for all that you've made possible!
