This project will renovate a severely dilapidated community school in Ankpa, Nigeria, where children currently learn in unsafe, crumbling classrooms. Funds will repair roofs, rebuild walls, install doors/windows, and provide desks and learning materials. By restoring a safe, dignified learning environment, we will improve school attendance, protect children from harm, and give them a better chance at quality education and a brighter future.
The school is in a dangerous state, with cracked mud walls, leaking roofs, broken windows, and exposed interiors. Children are forced to learn in unsafe conditions, exposed to rain, heat, and potential structural collapse. This discourages attendance, affects concentration, and puts lives at risk. Without urgent intervention, the school may become unusable, denying children in this underserved community access to basic education.
We will fully renovate the school by repairing and reinforcing walls, replacing the roof, installing doors and windows, and improving flooring. The project will also provide desks, writing materials, and basic sanitation facilities. Community members will be engaged in the process to ensure sustainability. This intervention will transform the school into a safe, functional, and child-friendly learning space.
Our long-term goal is to create a sustainable, safe, and inspiring learning environment that improves educational outcomes for children in Ankpa. By restoring this school, we aim to increase enrollment, reduce dropout rates, and support academic success. Over time, this project will contribute to breaking the cycle of poverty, empowering children with education, and strengthening community development.
