When the road expansion reached Mararaba, Mr. John and Blessing watched their kiosks, the family's only source of income demolished overnight. They are not alone, over 158 small scale traders suffered the same fate. This project supports small-scale business owners displaced by the Abuja-Keffi highway expansion/dualisation, helping them relocate, restock, and restart their livelihoods with dignity and hope.
Road dualisation along the Abuja-Keffi highway led to the demolition of roadside kiosks in Mararaba, leaving over 158 small traders without income or compensation. These businesses supported families through daily sales. Without support, affected owners face debt, food insecurity, and the risk of falling deeper into poverty.
We will help 51 most affected displaced traders relocate by providing small grants, basic business materials, and guidance to restart their shops in safer locations. Priority support will go to women and low-income earners. This assistance helps families regain stability, restore income, and rebuild their businesses quickly.
Our long-term goal is economic recovery and resilience for displaced small business owners. By helping traders restart, we reduce poverty, protect family livelihoods, and strengthen local markets. Over time, supported entrepreneurs can grow sustainable businesses and better withstand future disruptions.
