Tools for Healthy - and Delicious - School Lunch

F3 is embarking on a new project to expand and update The Lunch Box to better help schools create successful school food programs, especially in light of the new USDA guidelines. But plenty of the existing resources on the site can be instrumental right now in helping schools create tasty, healthy meals from scratch. Here are just a few:

Our recipe database provides everything you need to create balanced meals that kids love to eat, and all the recipes are scalable to any student population!
We have an extensive library of videos and other training resources that cover issues faced by every cook in every school kitchen, such as sanitation, safety, and food amounts and measures.
Getting students involved in their school food programs is key to success. Taste tests and surveys are a great way to get some student input and interest. Chef Ann’s Health Kids Meal Wheel is a great way to show kids what a healthy lunch looks like.

In 2013, we’re going to be adding recipes, procurement tools, and USDA-compatible menu-planning software designed for schools that are facing challenges incorporating the new USDA guidelines. Be sure to check back!
