Generally, the parents of a child with a disability show a higher degree of stress than the parents of children with normal development. In Mexico, this stress occurs frequently as there is a lack of support, that is, there are very few competent professionals and very little institutional support. The stress experienced by the family environment influences their ability to adjust to care for a child with a disability.
