Dear GlobalGiving supporters,
Thank you for your continued support of the Mt. Fuji Reforestation Project.

As this year draws to a close, we want to express our gratitude. From May to October, nearly 900 volunteers collaborated with us, and we are pleased to report that we have successfully completed this year's activities.Mt. Fuji is accessible to the public only during the summer season, and is closed to visitors during the winter.
Recently, our Mt. Fuji project team visited the mountain for the last time this year. The purpose of this visit was to conduct a survey in preparation for the third phase of the Mt. Fuji Reforestation Project. This initiative will mark its 20th year since its start in 2026. During the visit, we checked on the growth of the trees we planted and assessed the current state of the project site. Additionally, we examined the future direction of the project beyond the 21st year.
We were able to observe both the positive aspects and challenges at the project site.

First, the challenges:
The naturally grown larch trees are hindering the growth of the planted trees. One of our future tasks will be to determine how to manage these larch trees effectively.

Now, the positive aspects:

Fortunately, we were able to witness the site gradually turning into a forest. The healthy sites are composed of the planted trees, naturally grown trees, and the original trees, which resemble a natural forest.

We will continue to monitor the growth of the trees we've planted, and work together to ensure that the project sites expand and evolve into forests resembling natural woodlands.

By the way, in recent years, Japan has experienced longer summers and shorter autumns.

Perhaps this is due to the effects of climate change. This year, the first snow on Mt. Fuji came later than any time in the 130 years since records began.

Although it's becoming more difficult to experience autumn in daily life, during our survey, we were able to witness autumn on Mt. Fuji.

This year’s autumn in Japan was short, but we were able to see the beautiful autumn leaves.

Looking ahead to the 20th year of the Mt. Fuji Restoration Project in 2026, we are committed to continuing our work with all of you.

We sincerely appreciate your continued support, and we look forward to further collaboration with GlobalGiving supporters!
