This project will support 100 Children Living with Disabilities within the four slum communities of Kampala Uganda To Access free physiotherapy rehabilitation services as well as access free assistive devices like wheel chairs, hearing aids, walkers, and white canes, to enable them raise above their disabilities.
The Uganda population census 2014 report indicates disability prevalence at 13% representing approximately 2.5 million children with some form of disabilities. This is more amplified with children in the slums, 80% of People With Disabilities live in chronic poverty (UNICEF report 2014), Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Children with disabilities have difficulties accessing physiotherapy, treatment and assistive devices. Our goal is to enable Children With Disabilities access these services.
Enabling Children With Disabilities(CWD) access quality rehabilitation services, like Physiotherapy, massage, Exercise and play will help to relieve pain and discomfort in the impaired limbs. When CWDs are supported to access Assistive devices like hearing aids, wheel chairs, and walkers this will help them become independent and fully participate in community activities and self-care and enhance improved general well-being of the Children living with disabilities
The project will Facilitate 100 Children living with disabilities to access critical physiotherapy care. It will further enable children with disabilities to fully participate in the community and self care activities with dignity and raise above their disabilities.
