Challenge

The armed conflict in Yemen led to displacement of 11,558 to the Al-Abr area, causing a heavy load on the public services, which suffer from the poor infrastructure and lack of essential services. More than 5,474 school-aged, with 3814 IDP children and 2077 out of school. IDP children are not allowed to access the available functional schools. Schools that would enable IDPs are overcrowded with 400% over capacity. Instead of dropouts of children, it will provide them good education opportunity.

Solution

We will rehabilitee poor rural school to teach 388 student (204 boys and 184 girls) and provide 15 teaching kits with incentives to teachers for a year terms. This will help the support for formal learning opportunities and reduce overcrowded and able to absorb IDP children deprived children and dropouts.

Long-Term Impact

We will ensure the sustainability of in two aspects. The first one is rehabilitating classrooms to address the overcrowding issue in the long term and the second one is building the capacity of the target community enabling them to handle, solve and improve the education-related issues. We will entrench a communal culture based on the love of learning through community mobilization and sensitization in the learning-related issues through the campaigns, meetings, events and awareness sessions.
