Helping children with hearing problems affected by

Mark is happy with his success.
The terrible war between Russia and Ukraine caught up with Mark’s family in Kherson. The city was under Russian occupation and his family had to seek refuge in Germany. Mark is now 5 years old and he has problems with speech and hearing. He is hyperactive and has a difficult time maintaining focus. Mark is one of 23 participants of our regular online rehabilitation program, which is scheduled for Nov 11.
Our online program allows us to reach children with hearing aids and cochlear implants who have suffered from Russian military aggression and live far from rehabilitation centers. With our help children receive qualified support needed to develop speech and auditory perception. Our instructors also offer music classes, which are very helpful with development of motility and other mental processes.

Rehabilitation for children from war-torn regions.

Maria does not want to hear the sounds of war
There isn't a single Ukrainian child who has not been impacted by war. Children with hearing and speech disabilities are among the most vulnerable and often also experience psychological issues.
Maria*, who has recently attended our online class session, is 8 years old. She comes from a large family and has two cochlear implants. She lived six months in occupation in the city of Kherson and witnessed many horrors of war. She now needs help from our speech teachers, therapists, and psychologists. Twenty five more children throughout Ukraine facing the same challenges are getting ready to complete our next online class on July 1st.

Rehabilitation of Children from war zones.

*Misha is 9 years old and has a cochlear implant. Before the war he
completed one rehabilitation course online and was already seeing positive
results. Unfortunately, at a very young age, Misha had to experience the terror
of war. His family is from Severodonetsk in the Luhansk region, which is
currently occupied by Russian invaders. Misha and his family spent 2 weeks
hiding underground from regular bombardments. Aside from experiencing a significant
psychological trauma, Misha’s hearing and speech ability declined. His
apartment building was destroyed and he and his family were able to evacuate to
Kyiv. Misha wrote a letter to us, where he told his difficult story and asked
us to include him in our next online rehabilitation program. In
September-October 2022 we formed a group of 30 children who mainly came from
regions impacted by war. Misha was included in that group and after completing
this course, he saw improvements in his speech and hearing.
Once again, we would like to express our sincere thanks to all our
Sponsors, whose generosity and care allow us to continue supporting children
with hearing and speech disabilities during war.
We hope that very soon, after Ukraine wins the war, we will resume in-person
rehabilitation camps which help children hear voices of their family and
friends instead of sounds of explosions.
