The project has special focus on address the need of the affected and vulnerable groups including children, women, disables and widows.The support through rehabilitation will address their immediate and special needs of , shelter and WASH after the great loss in the affected areas. A powerful earthquake jolted several parts of Pakistan Administered Kashmir on 24 September 2019 at 4.01pm local time, particularly areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and affected 45000 population. The earthquake severely affected Mirpur district, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The high intensity earthquake also caused 40 deaths , 760 injuries and severe to moderate damages to 16600 houses ,toilet,water points and other infrastructure in Mirpur district.
FACES Pakistan will re-construct the fully and partially damages houses and wash rooms by using earthquake resistance material, adopting structure and provide knowledge about the quality construction in earthquake stricken areas. The FACES Pakistan will engage the local labor for cash for work in order to provide the livelihood from this project. The awareness on use toilet, hand washing, personal hygiene will be raised by conducting formal and informal discussion.
The project will increase the socio-economic status of affected people for their survival and improve the the lifestyle and well being. the project activities will protect them from harsh weather and provide safety of their health and belongings and contribute to identify the livelihood opportunities rather than exploring options of rebuilding of their houses and WASH facilities. The affected people will pay complete attentions to meet their daily needs and improve the family income.
