Now nine years after the start of the current crisis, Syria is bogged down in a bloody conflict that has claimed more than 586,100 lives. Fighting is taking place in residential areas, with no distinction made between civilian and military targets, causing so millions of people to leave their homes in search of a safe haven. This fund will provide emergency assistance to all those who choose Albania as their new home.
Since the beginning of the Syrian Civil War in 2011, the ongoing conflict has resulted in more than 400,000 deaths and caused more than half of the country's 22 million citizens to flee their home, to neighboring countries, making it the largest exodus of refugees in more than two decades. Over 875,000 people have been displaced by violence in the northwest - over half a million of them children.
This fund will support life-saving assistance and relief efforts for Syrians displaced by conflict, in Albania. As the crisis drags on, integration is impeded by numerous protection challenges in the official camps, informal tented settlements, and host communities where refugees have taken shelter. Your support will help survivors and victims get necessary immediate relief supplies like food and hygiene kits, medication, as well as provide long-term support through employment and education.
