Rehabilitation for 50 Children with Disabilities

This time we are reporting about the response made by Patan CBR Organization to its Children with Disabilities the complex situation arose due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We are very thankful to the donors for their continuous support even in this difficult time also.

Nepal went into the lockdown on 24th March 2020 and still in lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic. As the lockdown continued, there had been difficulties for their daily life reported from the families of Children with Disabilities. The local government brought the relief packages program targeting to those who lived with the earnings from day to day work. As the economic condition of the families of the children is poor, they faced many problems. By knowing this, Patan CBR distributed the relief materials to the needy families.

In the first phase, families of 12 Children with Disabilities have been selected for relief. The relief materials were, rice, oil, salt, beaten rice, pulse, etc. Again in the second phase, 17 families of children were provided relief material like, a pack of 25 kg rice, 1 liter of oil, 1 packet salt, and beaten rice. The families were chosen only children with severe disabilities. Similarly, some families have been referred to enlist the local government so that they can be benefitted when the local government distributes the relief materials. Also, we are coordinating with the local CSOs so that the maximum needy children would be benefitted.

Mother of one child who has been serving by Patan CBR for the last 10 years said "this is really great support for us as my husband is jobless for the last one year and my family is entirely relying on my sewing work". Others expressed that this relief distribution is a great help as the local government also did not provide the relief material for them.

 Now we are planning to distribute the medicine for the most needed children. Altogether there are 15 Children who need epilepsy medicine. We hope, with your great support we will be able to distribute medicine also.
