Rehabilitation for 50 Children with Disabilities

Dashain is one of the most important and most celebrated festivals in Nepal, symbolizing victory, prosperity, and the blessings of Goddess Durga. During this auspicious time, families come together to honor traditions, seek blessings, and share joy with loved ones. A meaningful aspect of Dashain is giving tika (a mixture of red vermilion, rice, and yogurt placed on the forehead) and gifts. This tradition holds special significance when it involves children with disabilities, as it reflects the values of compassion, inclusion, and care.

Giving gifts and applying tika to children with disabilities during Dashain is a lovely way to demonstrate support and affection. In addition to making those children feel unique and accepted, it raises awareness of the value of treating everyone in society with respect, regardless of their mental or physical difficulties. Children with disabilities are blessed with health, happiness, and success when elders apply tika to them. Giving them presents makes their day happier and makes them feel appreciated and welcomed.

This Dashain gesture of generosity teaches society the value of empathy and compassion. It serves as a reminder that celebrations are about more than just traditions; they are also about spreading joy and showing compassion to one another. Engaging children with disabilities into these festivities fosters a more inclusive community that helps in the elimination of social barriers.

In conclusion, giving gifts to children with impairments and applying tika to celebrate Dashain has significant cultural and moral importance.  Our patan CBR has organized a long-awaited outing with the CBR family on Saturday, April 19, at a new location and with new memories. We met at the bus stop early in the morning and made it to our destination. The weather was pleasant.There were 85 of us including staff, parents, board members and children with disabilities everyone was eager to see the new location. As soon as we get at our location, we begin to walk in our direction. Our catering team had already arrived and had made us breakfast.We finished our breakfast. Our parents and staff had breakfast after our children with disabilities finished their meal. Everyone loved it, and it was excellent.

Once our breakfast was finished, we intended to go to the Manakamana Temple nearby. The grounds of Mankamana Temple are serene. The vista of nature from here is stunning, as is the atmosphere. From there, there is a hiking track that leads to the summit and is ideal for picnics.The temple is about a half-hour's walk from the Lele bus station, at the base of a hill. The temple is a well-known religious site and Hindu temple. We go to the temple and take pictures together. The location was stunning. The land surrounding the temple was surrounded by mountains.We returned to our location after our visit to the temple. For that day, we have a few programs planned.

 After that, we relaxed and drank some water. We begin our game session by having some of our children with disabilities play games like Ludo, skipping, and badminton.They played games and had fun with their own circle of buddies.We began playing musical chairs with children with disabilities. We arrange the chairs in a circle and instruct our children with disabilities to sit in each chair.After we begin playing music, they begin to approach the circle, and we remove a few chairs from it. When the music stops, they must sit in the chairs. In this way, we played musical chair with parents and children with disabilities. They adored these games. Our meal was nearly done after we had a little fun.

 We all finished our lunches. It was wonderful. For all children with disabilities, BOCCIA is one of their favorite games. It is a target ball sport which tests both muscle control and accuracy.Each participant is positioned in a line, given a blue ball/red ball, and instructed to hit a queen ball. The winner is the one whose ball is closest to the queen ball. We gave our adorable parents and children with disabilities tiny gifts once our game session was over. Without them, we couldn't create such a lovely day.Our former president, Moti Shanti Shakya, also attended our picnic, met with all of the parents and children with disabilities, and gave our kids some gifts. Our day was coming to a close, and we were having a good time. Finally, we started dancing and playing music. We finally enjoyed supper together, and as a result, we had a fantastic day filled with priceless memories in a new location. This is made possible by our combined efforts.
