Help former child soldiers in Uganda rebuild their lives. Abducted and forced to fight, they now face deep discrimination. Your gift today provides vital vocational training and psychosocial support, empowering them to become self-reliant. Please join the movement and give now.
Former child soldiers face a number of difficulties even after they could return to their hometowns. They suffer severe psychological trauma because of their past experiences and are often discriminated against by communities due to the harm they were forced to do while they were child soldiers. Also, they generally lack basic education because they were abducted by a rebel group when they were children. Therefore, they do not have means to make a living and are not able to become self-reliant.
We provide former child soldiers with vocational training such as the skills of tailoring or carpentry. In addition, we offer phycosocial support and basic education. We also provide them with support for setting up their business and individual consulting until they become self-reliant. However, due to the COVID-19, former child soldiers who finished their vocational training have lost their jobs. Therefore, we support them through ordering them to produce masks so that they can earn a living.
Through offering comprehensive support to former child soldiers, we assist them to become self-reliant where they do not need to depend upon aid. We also support the willingness and efforts of our beneficiaries to make good relationships with their neighbors so that they can support each other in their communities, which enables them to increase their social capital. As a result, we contribute to the development and stability in the north area of Uganda, followed by the conflict prevention.
