Releasing orangutans back into the wild is a project very close to all our hearts. This particular project, releasing orangutans into the wild in Jantho nature reserve, in order to create an entirely new population of orangutans in the wild, is particularly important.
The work is continuing and we hope to reach the critical population of 250 believed to be needed to sustain a population over the long-term. We are temporarily stopping fundraising for this project, however, until a new partnership agreement with the relevant partners on the ground is in place. This is to ensure a clear understanding of who has responsibility for which parts of project delivery in order to ensure that the project delivers value for money and the measurable impact which we believe to be so important.
Please rest assured any funds contributed to date will be spent on releasing the new population of orangutans back into the wild in Jantho Nature reserve.
