This project consists in saving human lives, infrastructures and other development initiatives by assisting flood victims and unblocking road traffic and protecting roads and other constructions by discharging flood water from the houses of the victims and on the roads to the gutters in good condition.
In Burundi we observe flood disasters caused by torrential rains due to climate change. According to information collected by our first-aid volunteers on the ground, OPIRCo notes that these floods are killing human lives and distroying infrastructures and other development initiatives, not to mention the lack of hygiene and sanitation that can cause certain diseases. Hence the intervention is necessary in order to save the victims.
This project provides assistance to 126 flood victims, therefore 32 men, 57 women and 37 children in Bujumbura area. It consists in promoting intervention against the floods which threaten the Bujumbura province; it will help to evacuate rainwater from the houses of the flood victims ; to unblock road traffic by discharging rainwater from roads to the gutters from which this water can run normally; it will also reduce malaria and other dirty diseases.
Flood victims assisted with food, clothes and some school materials. Trained victims to prepare the kitchen gardens in order to have vegetables in a short time and for a long period. Houses of the victims which do not contain rainwater; roads protected from rainwater and road traffic is normal. Significant reduction of malaria and other dirty diseases.
