By IsraAID Jamaica | Emergency Team
Hurricane Melissa made landfall in October 2025, devastating communities across eastern Jamaica. IsrasAID responded urgently, focusing on child protection and water, sanitation and hygiene in rural communities. During the first weeks of emergency, IsraAID's team supported more than 2,000 children through Child Friendly Spaces, resilience kits, and classroom wellbeing kits, and provided water purification solutions for more than 65,000 people.
Today, as communities begin the long road to recovery, IsraAID continues to operate daily Child Friendly Spaces, which offer children in affected communities a safe, stable environment, to learn, play, and "just be kids" amid crisis.
