The catastrophic pair of earthquakes on 6 February in Turkiye and Syria surpassed the death toll to 46,000. Thousands are injured, and yet more have lost their homes and belongings. Families, including children, are forced to live in open spaces amid cold and snow. Al-Mustafa is providing hot meals, clothing, winterized tents and medical aid to the surviving families. Your funds will help us to reach out to more victims, especially in the already war-afflicted region of Syria.
The most disastrous earthquake of the century struck Turkey and Syria when the people were in deep slumber. On top of that, the region was hit with strong aftershocks, which made the destruction even worse. The death toll has crossed the threshold of 46,000, with many victims still lying beneath the rubble. Multiple factors led to this earthquake being so devastating, like fault lines, neighbourhoods reeling from the ongoing war, delayed rescue missions and the collapse of residential buildings.
Al-Mustafa is working alongside our Turkish partners for rescue and relief in the afflicted areas. Our teams have provided food, winterized tents, and winter & hygiene kits (containing a jacket, a blanket, gloves, socks, a cap & toiletries etc.) & medical aid in Idlib, Jarabulus, A'zaz in Syria and Kahramanmaras, Sanliurfa, Gaziantep, Malatya etc. in Turkiye. All the funds for this project will be utilized to relieve and rehabilitate the disaster affected population in Syria & Turkiye.
The road to recovery is long, especially for families who have lost their homes and businesses. Your donations will help us to provide the survivors with food, shelter, and medical aid and increase their chances of living in these winters. The next phase will be to rehabilitate the affected people, which include 3.5 million Syrian war refugees living in the southern parts of Turkiye.
