About OBLF & the Remedy Program
OBLF is a grassroots non-profit committed to creating better futures for underserved communities across rural and peri-urban Karnataka, particularly in Anekal Taluk on the outskirts of Bangalore. Our work spans across education, healthcare, and livelihoods, with all programs deeply rooted in community participation and long-term impact.
In education, OBLF focuses on improving English language and subject learning outcomes among primary school children in government schools. We address critical teacher shortages by training and employing local women as teachers and blend traditional classroom instruction with digital tools to enhance learning. This not only strengthens student learning but also empowers rural women with professional skills and sustainable livelihoods.
Through our Remedy Program, OBLF extends this community-centered approach to healthcare—delivering integrated, compassionate, and accessible services to meet the evolving health needs of marginalized populations. We focus on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), life-limiting illnesses, geriatric and palliative care, and mental health. Our model includes village-based Primary Health Clinics, home care visits, and school and community mental health outreach, ensuring care that is accessible, affordable, and predictable—close to where people live and delivered with dignity.
Our approach is built on early detection, holistic treatment, and strong community engagement. This integration improves adherence to treatment, reduces stigma, and fosters sustainable, long-term health outcomes for individuals and families.
OBLF Public Health Program: Summary of Impact (April 2024 – March 2025)
Over the past year, OBLF has deepened its commitment to delivering equitable, accessible, and community-centric primary healthcare across rural Karnataka. Through a network of mobile clinics, fixed centers, and trained frontline health workers, we provided over 17,000 consultations, with 47% addressing Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension and diabetes. Our integrated health model now includes geriatric and palliative care, mental health support, and school-based health education, reaching a cumulative population of 1.29 lakh individuals.

Our work demonstrates that when care is local, consistent, and rooted in dignity, it drives better health outcomes and builds resilient communities. As we move into 2025, we remain committed to expanding this model across Anekal and beyond—and invite your continued partnership in this journey.
