In Washington DC, the public and charters schools are not doing in person learning. The school year have moved to distance learning. There is a digital divide. Students from resource rich schools has given students devices for learning such as desktop computer, laptops, tablets. Our organization has an on line digital media program that teaches children to produce animation videos, power point presentation for school and fun learning. We need to expand with 5 more slots to increase our program.
This project will solve this problem by providing fund for five more subscriptions, and resources to buy computer cameras, headphones, microphones, and computer mouse. Many of our students have laptops without cameras, so we have to install them. And, we provide other accessories as needed to equip their laptops for listening and speaking with the teacher on line during the class held on the Zoom platform.
Since two year ago, we have been operating this program in an in-person after school setting, which is our computer lab. With the COVID-19, and social distancing we have more our after school program on line and we teach computer animation classes with Zoom platforms so that students can learn Adobe softwares such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Animate, InDesign and more.
