Summary

Jonah House in Taiwan provides a safety and steady living environment to children and unwed mothers in need. Since 2004, more than 1,400 children or women have obtained support and caring. Jonah House is equipped with two elevators. However, dangerous situations occurred several times during the past couple years, resulted from the elevator's failure. It was not very effective with repairing. For safety of children and staff at Jonah House, to replace the elevators would be the best solution.

Challenge

Jonah House, located in New Taipei City, covers two buildings. As Jonah House was dedicated in 2004, the buildings were equipped with elevators. Currently, the two elevators are over minimum tenure of use (fifteen years). During the past couple years, dangerous situations occurred several times. On two occasions, passengers got strapped in the elevator for long, and the elevator even fell on one occasion. Solution

Despite of regular maintenance and security check, the elevators failure occurred many times since 2022. Fortunately, nobody got hurt in the dangerous situations. It was not very effective even the engineers repaired many times. For safety of children and staff at Jonah House, to replace the elevators would be a best solution.

Long-Term Impact

Jonah House in Taiwan provides a safety and steady living environment to children and unwed mothers in need, from 0 to 18 years old. Since 2004, it has provided more than 1,400 children or women with support and caring. It's important to equipped with safe and well-functional facilities in a shelter like Jonah House for children with health or special needs. New elevators will be useful for more than ten years, which benefits many children. This is a long-term impact project.
