Rescue, Rebuild, Reimagine: Street Kids' Future

On August 30, 2025, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Accra Airport (RCAA), we kicked off the giving season with our annual Back-to-School event. This flagship intervention is one of SCEF's key programs aimed at equipping street-connected children and children from vulnerable families with the resources they need to thrive in school. The program was held under the theme: "Unshackling the Future: Educating the Street-Connected Child".

For the past 10 years, SCEF has partnered with the RCAA to implement this annual program. The collaboration has consistently empowered hundreds of children to return to school with dignity, fully equipped with educational supplies.

Key Outcomes and Impact:

•  Children Reached:150 children directly received school supplies during the event , with additional children scheduled to be reached through follow-up distribution.
•  Supplies Provided: Each child received a schoolbag , along with essential learning tools such as notebooks, pens, pencils, mathematical set, rulers, sharpener, erasers, crayons, colour pencils, calculator, and pencil case, depending on their grade level.
•  The Power of Partnership: The event successfully celebrated and reaffirmed the commitment to sustaining the initiative among SCEF, the Ghana Education Service (GES), and RCAA. The 2025 program united 261 targeted beneficiaries, 18 RCAA members, 3 GES officials, and 12 SCEF staff.
•  Mentorship and Dignity: A unique highlight was the interactive session where Rotarians paired with children to wrap exercise books in brown paper (symbolizing preparation) and pack their bags (portraying a supportive parent-child relationship), underscoring a commitment to modeling mentorship and dignity in education.
•  Inspiring Testimonies: Beneficiaries shared impact stories. Emmanuella Vanderpuye shared how the consistent provision of supplies allowed her to stay in school and inspired her dream of becoming a teacher. Joel Amoquaye expressed how the materials transformed his life and supported him to become one of the best students during BECE 2024.

For 10 years, this partnership has been essential in breaking down one of the first barriers to education—lack of resources. Their success is our success!
