Thanks to your generous support, SCEF continued to strengthen communities and empower children through several important initiatives during the past quarter. From equipping our staff and partner organizations with new community development approaches to launching a financial literacy program for children, your partnership is helping create lasting, sustainable change.
Strengthening Communities Through Community-Led Development
One of our key achievements this quarter was expanding our work in Community-Led Development (CLD). Our staff participated in an intensive training workshop to deepen their understanding of how communities can become the driving force behind solving their own challenges.
Rather than imposing solutions, the CLD approach encourages local people to identify their priorities, design solutions together, and take ownership of implementation, while organizations like SCEF provide facilitation and technical support. This approach will guide our work as we prepare for the implementation of the Smart Wheels initiative and future community-based interventions.
Bringing Organizations Together for Greater Impact
SCEF also had the privilege of hosting the Southern Ghana CLD Partners Workshop, bringing together partner organizations including GFC, MOANF, YVLG, PDA, Achievers Ghana, ICDP, MTW, and YAG.
Over three days, participants explored practical tools for implementing Community-Led Development within their own communities. The workshop strengthened collaboration among organizations committed to improving the lives of vulnerable children and families while promoting sustainable, community-owned solutions.
Listening First: Community Engagement and Field Research
Throughout the reporting period, our team carried out field engagements to identify key community leaders and stakeholders while strengthening relationships within the communities we serve.
These conversations are helping us better understand local priorities, improve child protection systems, and ensure that future interventions are designed alongside community members rather than for them. By investing time in listening first, we are building stronger partnerships that will make our future programs more effective and sustainable.
Launching the Valora Financial Literacy Project
A major highlight of the quarter was the launch of our partnership with Valora, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) focused on promoting financial literacy and positive economic behavior among children.
The partnership began immediately with an engaging workshop attended by 12 children, many of whom were experiencing financial education for the first time. Through interactive activities, they learned about saving money, responsible spending, and making informed financial decisions.
The excitement in the room was inspiring. The children's curiosity and active participation reminded us how valuable it is to introduce financial education early in life. By helping young people develop healthy financial habits today, we are preparing them to become confident, responsible, and economically empowered adults tomorrow.
Thank You
None of these milestones would have been possible without your continued generosity. Your support is helping us build stronger communities, equip young people with life-changing skills, and create opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.
Thank you for believing in our mission and for standing with us as we work to empower street-connected children and vulnerable families across Ghana. Together, we are creating lasting change.
