Dear Donors,
We sincerely thank the donors who have supported the Rescue 3,000 Nigerian Kids from Acute Malnutrition project. Your generosity shows concern for children whose health is threatened by severe hunger and poor nutrition. At present, however, the funds received are still not sufficient to begin the planned nutrition support activities.
Across several regions of Nigeria, many young children suffer from serious food shortages caused by poverty, conflict, and limited access to nutritious meals. In severe cases, children develop acute malnutrition, a condition marked by extreme weight loss, weakness, and high vulnerability to illness. Without timely treatment, these children may struggle to recover from common diseases such as diarrhea, malaria, or respiratory infections.
Families in rural and conflict-affected areas often lack access to health facilities that can diagnose and treat malnutrition early. Caregivers may not recognize the warning signs, and by the time help is sought, the child’s condition may already be severe. Early detection and treatment are therefore essential to prevent long-term harm or loss of life.
This project will provide ready-to-use therapeutic food and medical screening for 3,000 children in high-risk communities. Local health workers will identify children suffering from acute malnutrition, begin treatment, and monitor their recovery through regular follow-up visits. The therapeutic food requires no cooking and can be safely used even where families lack stable access to clean water or fuel.
Community outreach will also help locate children who are not yet receiving care. Health workers will share basic feeding guidance with caregivers so they can better support their children’s recovery and prevent future cases.
We are grateful for the support already received and for the compassion shown toward these vulnerable children. Your kindness strengthens our determination to reach those who need urgent nutrition support. We warmly welcome others who may wish to stand with these children so that life-saving feeding care can begin in the communities most at risk.
Sincerely,
Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
