Summary

No child should be forced to beg on the streets. This project will rescue 80 children from street begging in Nigeria and give them safety, care, and a future. Children will receive temporary shelter, medical care, trauma counseling, and family tracing. Each will be enrolled in school or vocational training. By combining immediate protection with long-term education and support, the project ensures children permanently leave the streets and reclaim their childhood.

Challenge

Street begging in Nigeria is widespread, leaving children exposed to extreme risks. Many are exploited by organized networks or driven to beg by poverty, neglect, or family instability. Daily threats include abuse, accidents, hunger, and illness, while education is denied. These children remain trapped in cycles of trauma and exploitation. Without intervention, they grow into vulnerable adults, perpetuating poverty and increasing urban social problems.

Solution

This project provides a practical, step-by-step rescue and rehabilitation approach. Outreach workers will locate and safely remove 80 children from street begging sites. Children will receive shelter, food, medical care, and trauma counseling. Social workers will trace families for safe reunification or arrange foster care when needed. Each child will be enrolled in school or vocational training, with ongoing follow-up to ensure protection, education retention, and successful reintegration.

Long-Term Impact

Rescuing 80 children from street begging in Nigeria produces lasting change for both children and communities. Children gain education, emotional support, and safe care, preventing return to street life. Families and communities benefit from safer, more stable environments. The project creates a replicable model for child rehabilitation, strengthens local child protection systems, reduces street child populations, and equips vulnerable children with skills and opportunities to thrive for long.
