Dear Supporters,
As we step into a new year of our partnership with Elephant Havens, we want to take a moment to thank you. Your support continues to make this work possible, and every milestone we share is because of you.
Over the past year, our partner has continued caring for orphaned elephants at Botswana’s only dedicated elephant orphanage. Since its founding, the sanctuary has now rescued 39 orphaned elephants, each arriving vulnerable and alone, and each given a second chance through round-the-clock care, feeding, and companionship.
There have also been powerful individual rescue stories. Young elephants like Rosie, recently brought into care, are already learning to trust again, bonding with their herd, gaining confidence, and rediscovering natural behaviours after losing their families. These moments of recovery are only possible because of the time, patience, and care your support makes possible.
There have also been important long-term successes. To date, at least 12 elephants have been successfully reintroduced into the wild, adapting to life beyond human care and rebuilding wild populations for the future.
At the same time, Elephant Havens continues to grow as a place of hope and healing. The sanctuary provides a safe environment where elephants can move from intensive care to gradual independence, while also supporting local communities through employment, education, and outreach programmes.
There is still so much to do. New rescues continue to arrive, and each one requires time, care, and patience. But thanks to you, these elephants are given something they would not otherwise have, a future.
To continue this vital work, Elephant Havens now urgently needs to strengthen its rescue capacity. A new dart gun and red-dot scope will support safer, more humane rescues of distressed elephant calves.
We hope you will help us raise US $5,500 (UK £4,000) toward this essential next step.
From all of us, and from every elephant whose life you have touched, thank you for being part of this journey.
