Dogs can have many positive effects on the lives of their owners. They influence social, emotional, & cognitive development in children, promote an active lifestyle, provide companionship, & have been able to detect oncoming epileptic seizures or the presence of certain cancers. Dogs can also help to relieve stress and anxiety in people. Around 38% of US households are estimated to have one or more dogs. Our Volunteers strives to rescue dogs from being euthanized & placing them in forever homes
Animal Shelters are constantly overwhelmed by the sheer number of pets brought to them, resulting in 60% being euthanized. Our Volunteers rescues dogs from city shelters thus preventing their unfortunate fate. After they are physically examined, spay/neutered, tested and vaccinated, they are placed with a foster family until they are adopted. As a result of our adoption program, we have placed on average 150 - 250 dogs per year into wonderful homes.
Our Volunteers are not available for adoption until after they are spay/neutered. This ensures our dogs do not contribute to our Pet Overpopulation Crisis and by doing so, the number of dogs entering shelters due to mating will decrease. Educating the public about the importance of spay/neuter, local resources and encouraging people to adopt instead of purchase from breeders will also decrease the number of homeless pets being euthanized.
Public awareness of the plight of a shelter dog has brought awareness to the general public about the consequences of not spay/neutering your pet. We encourage people to visit their local animal shelter to witness the severity of the crisis and to see all of the wonderful pets available that will soon be euthanized due to lack of space.
