Love for Leo, another successful rescue at TOLFA

By Clara Nowak | UK Director

Leo - Before and After at TOLFA

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your donation to our Rescue & Care project. With your help our rescue vehicles are going out every day to help sick and injured street animals on India's streets.

This includes dogs like Leo, who we recently had to admit to our hospital for treatment. Leo had been bitten under his neck by another dog. For the first few days he was in pain, traumatised by his experience and very bothered by the wound. Once he got used to the nice people helping him and started to heal he really came out of his shell and has become quite a livewire, unable to stay still! Leo has a caregiver on his street who is very keen for him to come home. He will be sterilised and have his vaccinations before being reunited - we're sure it will be a joyful occasion as Leo has such a fun personality!

Helping Leo to make his recovery was Ravi, one of our rescue & care team. Ravi has worked at TOLFA for 4 years, and in that time he was married and now has two beautiful daughters. Ravi is very diligent in his work and recently gave up his free time to stay at TOLFA when we were short-staffed. Ravi spends his days assisting with medical treatments for our rescued adult dogs. He is a good dog handler and has always naturally comforted the dogs with soft words and strokes during their treatment. Since working for us Ravi has also recruited his younger brother Jai, who works out on our rescue vehicle, so it really is a TOLFA family affair!

We are so grateful for your support - it is really making a difference for animals here in Rajasthan.

Thank you,

Ravi and Leo after treatment

You've helped 2,188 rescued animals this year

By Clara Nowak | Project Leader

Nandu & the team with dog rescued from the well

Dear Friend,

We have crunched the numbers and are happy to report that our Rescue & Care project has admitted 2,188 sick and injured animals so far this year. These are animals that have been involved in motor accidents, are victims of abuse, have developed illnesses such as disptemper or hepatitits, or have suffered from one of a multitude of other causes that have left them in dire need of care and attention.

And you have helped make that possible! Thank you so much for supporting our work and saving lives in India.

Your support means that we always have a rescue team at the ready to help. Last month we were called to a dog who had fallen down an 80ft village well. She was desperately paddling for her life in cold water at the bottom. Our rescue team knew what to do and team member Nandu was carefully lowered down in a makeshift sling attached to the winch on our rescue vehicle. Luckily the dog was unharmed and very happy to meet her rescuers!

You can watch the incredible rescue HERE on TOLFA's YouTube Channel.

If you would like to hear more about TOLFA's work and rescue stories please sign up to our e-newsletter HERE.

We are also very excited to have had a photo selected for the Global Giving 2017 Photo Contest. There is a prize of $1,000 at stake, so please make sure you vote for us - Global Giving Photo Contest. The photo shows one of oldest staff members, Chacha, caring for a rescued donkey and prefectly sums up our ethos of compassion and kindness for all.

Thank you once again for your kind donation and support that makes all we do for animals possible.

Until next time,

Clara
