Project Report | Sep 3, 2021
Thank you for helping Simpi, Albert, Edie and more

Simpi, after amputation, now a TOLFA office cat

The pandemic, climate change and lockdowns -  despite all the challenges we face, and there are many, there is always one thing that remains the same – the animals we help. We still get up to 50 calls every day about sick and injured animals that need veterinary care, and we are always there to give it. That is what your support means. It means that animals like Simpi, Albert and Edie have somewhere safe to go where caring people will help them to get better.

Simpi was rescued in a terrible state – his left foreleg was all but hanging off his body after an accident had left the wound open for maggots. At TOLFA he was given the pain relief needed, we cleaned him up and safely amputated his leg. The ‘after’ photo says it all as he now loves his role as an office cat with our admin staff.

Albert was nothing but a walking skeleton when we first collected him from the streets. Severely emaciated and suffering from mange he was a sorry site. You can see from the ‘after’ photo that he still has a way to go to re-grow his hair, but his condition has already improved considerably. Mange may take some time and attention to treat, but it is treatable, and we can make a huge difference to dogs like Albert.

Edie is an older dog who suffered a huge skin burn, either from an accident or from deliberate abuse, that left her with an open wound on one side of her body. No animal deserves to go through so much pain – if someone hadn’t called TOLFA for her what would have happened? Happily she received immediate care and treatment and has been given a new lease of life.

You have helped make all these, and so many more, incredible recoveries happen. This is what your support does every day at TOLFA.

Thank you.
