Thank you for a Wonderful Year!!

As 2016 comes to an end, Canines With a Cause would like to thank you for your support, we could not sustain our life-saving programs without caring, generous people like you. Here are some highlights of the past year:

The National Center on Veteran Studies at the University of Utah is approaching their second year studying and documenting results of Veteran/dog interaction. CWAC will use the results of these studies for future program expansion and grants.
CWAC recently partnered with Utah Correctional Institute (UCI); our inmate trainers are now compensated for dog training with program expansion into the men’s facilities. We anticipate an on-site building in 2017, where our trainers will live and train, away from other inmates and distractions. This program expansion will increase the number of dogs rescued and trained for our life-saving programs.
We anticipate having dogs in all Utah State Prisons by 2019 and have plans with the Department of Corrections (DOC) to base a large training facility in the Gunnison Prison, with the purpose of training dogs for CWAC’s programs. This expansion will allow CWAC to rescue dogs deemed “unadoptable”; prisoners will work with these dogs and help improve any issues that would usually mean a death sentence.
What’s more, our “Pal With Paws” program will expand our ability to rescue dogs from local shelters, while improving the lives of children who also suffer with PTSD. Our relationship with the Children's Justice Center is groundbreaking and we anticipate expanding to other centers in Utah.

A sustaining goal of Canines With a Cause is to educate people on the importance of companion animals as a resource. These animals heal emotional pain, are the eyes and ears for those who cannot see or hear, help Veterans transition back into family and civilian life, comfort a child and bring us joy just by wagging their tags and being our unconditional loving partners. We also strive to eradicate the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals and find them loving homes helping their human counterparts along the way.

If you want to make a big impact for our GlobalGiving project before the end of 2016, start a new monthly donation by December 31st and a generous donor will match your initial gift 200%!

All the best in 2017!

Sincerely,

Cathy King
