This is an appeal to save the Parni PLUS website, the leading Russian language media outlet produced by, and for LGBTQ+ people and allies since 2008. The site provides information about HIV, sexual health and lifestyle while fighting myths about homosexuality. In 2022, the organization has been recognised as a foreign agent by the state, forcing our journalists to work incognito or leave Russia altogether. We seek your help to save the valuable resource that Parni PLUS has become from collapse
The website is at constant risk of shutdown from the attempts to ban it as a result of Russian policies based on state-sustained homophobia but the main threat to our existence remains the lack of funding. 'Parni PLUS' is the only socio-educational LGBTQ+ media resource in Russian language whose annual audience reaches 3.5 million people but right now, due to further financial struggle, we are at risk of ceasing to exist, leaving our audience without access to essential, life-saving information.
With the help of the funds donated through this platform we will be able to do the following: - Recruit a team of authors and editors to keep our readers efficiently informed about everything related to LGBTQ+ rights, health and lifestyles. - Broaden the range of topics and urgent issues investigated and covered by our team members to increase the impact of our media outlet. - Extend our ongoing support of projects and initiatives aimed to help LGBTQ+ communities.
With the right support we can evolve into a stronger independent media outlet which will serve as a link between the Russian speaking and global LGBTQ+ communities, offering full informational support to LGBTQ+ people and contributing to the fight for equal rights in Russia and beyond. By increasing our outreach we aim to increase access to the essential resources on HIV, PrEP and safe sex practices and to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ activism and the progress in our fight for equality.
