We are happy to share an exciting development in our "Resilience and Accessibility for St. John Homes" project. For the next two homes slated for repair through this program, we are experimenting with new construction techniques and products, specifically utilizing BAUHU modular systems and Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF).
By expanding our program to include these alternative building solutions, we hope to gain valuable knowledge and skills necessary to assess and implement more cost-effective, less labor-intensive, and highly efficient ways to build truly resilient housing here on St. John. This exploration is vital as we seek sustainable methods to strengthen our island community against future storms.
We want to be transparent that significant costs are still associated with the adoption of these two innovative products, particularly related to shipping and complex logistics, as well as executing necessary existing concrete work. We are diligently managing these expenses as we gather data on their long-term benefits.
We wish all of our friends and supporters a happy new year, and thank you sincerely for your continued support and interest in building our island community back stronger and more accessible for all.
