Resilience Building for GBV Survivors

Challenge

The outbreak has resulted in a distressing surge in gender-based violence (GBV). Shockingly, one in every three women in the region has experienced violence, coercion, or abuse, often at the hands of individuals they know intimately, including husbands and male family members. This prevalent GBV not only perpetuates and exacerbates gender inequalities but also poses significant threats to the physical and psychological well-being,dignity, security, and autonomy of its victims.

Solution

By focusing on enhancing : 1. Social Protection through psychosocial support and counseling services to help survivors cope with the deep scars caused by GBV. 2. Economic Empowerment by providing livelihood support opportunities such as skills transfer,training, vocational education, and access to microfinance services, and , 3. Legal Protection by strengthening the legal framework and increase survivors' access to legal protection via legal aid services and access to justice.

Long-Term Impact

The project will create a transformative impact on the prevalence of gender-based violence as it recognizes that a holistic approach is required to break the cycle of violence and provide survivors with the necessary support to rebuild their lives. The project would restore the physical and psychological well-being, dignity, security, and autonomy of GBV survivors, while also contributing to the broader goal of reducing gender inequalities in the region.
