We are delighted to present the donor report for the project aimed at providing a portable digital library to enhance education for refugee children and youth in Kenya. This initiative has been made possible through your generous support, and we are excited to share the impact it has had on the lives of the beneficiaries.
Project Achievements:
1. Portable Digital Library: Our team successfully curated and deployed a comprehensive digital library containing a diverse collection of over 600 books, audiobooks, and educational videos. The content covers various subjects, including math, literacy, health, and digital education, tailored to the specific needs and interests of the refugee children and youth in Kenya.
2. Educational Impact: The portable digital library has played a crucial role in supplementing the formal education of refugee children. Through interactive and engaging content, our partner on the ground have reported a noticeable improvement in the students' academic performance.
3. Teacher Training: To ensure the sustainable use of the solar-powered devices and optimize the impact of the digital library, our team created teacher training sessions. The training equipped educators with the necessary skills to integrate technology into their teaching methods, fostering a more interactive and engaging learning environment for the students.
Challenges and Solutions: While implementing the project, we encountered challenges such as intermittent power supply and connectivity issues. To address these challenges, we collaborated with local partners to enhance the solar power infrastructure and improve connectivity, ensuring uninterrupted access to the digital resources.
In 2024 we plan, to build on the success of this project, we aim to expand the digital library's content, incorporating more diverse educational materials. Additionally, we plan to extend teacher training programs to neighboring regions, empowering educators with the tools and knowledge to harness the potential of digital education.
