Healing Circle

Healing and Rebuilding Our Community (HROC) started in Rwanda after the Genocide. (HROC) deals with Trauma Healing which brings victims and perpetrators on board for a healing process through reconciliation and forgiveness. The programs contain both content on psychosocial tools that help to build resilience and healing from Trauma, currently we have concluded four basic workshops with 91 participants, one Advance training of 25 participants and one training of trainers of 25participants from South Sudanese community of Dinka and Nuer tribes leaving in the refugee camp in Kenya. In the training we introduced healing circle.

Healing from trauma is a process that takes time and effort depending on the depth of loss one has experienced. In all our training we seat in a circle, this process has transformed to a healing circle which brings supportive groups of people talking about common issues like trauma or other issues troubling them, we in HROC training we have adapted this tradition from indigenous native American Culture, through this healing circles we have created safe space for hostile communities in Kakuma refugee camp, In the circle we have help our participants to deepen there understanding of trauma, strategies of recovery, identifying and responding to strong emotions and personal journey of healing. In the healing circle we have help our participants recover from trauma through creating Safety, encouraging remembrance and mourning, helping both victims and perpetrators by addressing their needs through connection to family, friends and community and commonality which help bring other people who have experienced similar loss.

Through this healing circle we identify healing companions who provide support to individual who on there journey of healing, from the circle participants have build  resilience  and coping mechanism. and finaly we have new HROC facilitators who will start to do their apprentice workshops in the camp.
